Cognitive artifacts are objects and environment that aid the human mind by complementing its abilities and by strengthening its mental powers. DODEs [=???] are part of a research agenda to identify and create unique possibilities for computational media as a cognitive artifact. Examples of cognitive artifacts are books, calculators, spelling correctors, and other computational tools.
